Postsecondary education: common course numbering system

Purpose
  • Creates a common course numbering system at CA Community Colleges, reducing necessary confusion easing advising, streamlining transfers, and reducing excess credit accumulations, saving students both time and money.

  • History: 10/06/21 - Chaptered by Secretary of State - Chapter 568, Statutes of 2021.
  • Votes: 09/09/21 - (PASS) - Assembly Floor - Ayes: 79, Noes: 0, NVR: 1 - AB-1111 Berman Concurrence in Senate Amendments.
Position
  • LASCC's Position: Oppose​
  • BizFed voted to approve, with contention.  This is $600k per campus to merely change course numbers. We have not fully reviewed the legislation.
    With most campus class info and registration online, is seems that $600k per campus is exorbitant and could go for a lot of scholarships, tuition reduction or other student support
