Theft: Aggregation of Amounts and Diversion
District 66 Assembly Member Al Muratsuchi
- Amends existing Proposition 47 (2014) provisions by allowing separate instances of retail theft to be counted in aggregate toward the existing $950 felony threshold approved by voters in 2014.
If possible, a pretrial diversion program if first offered, could lead to a job for the individual. If the individual denies the offer, the crimes would be considered felonies.
- LASCC's Position: tbd
- While we agree there should be alternatives, we recommend LASCC take a position to advocate for a system that allows us to look at pre-incident behaviors and to identify those most at risk.
